Perfume

In addition to my nail polish addiction, I have a weakness for perfumes. I have quite a selection of bottles of traditional perfumes, eau de parfum, and eau de toilette. I love many of the scents… Thierry Mugler’s Angel, Chanel No.5, and Clean being some of my favorites. However, scent is one of my biggest headache triggers. I can’t wear perfumes often because of it.

Recently I’ve switched to wearing only perfume oils. Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, and my new favorite, Nocturne Alchemy have some of the best scents I’ve tried.

I had been wearing BPAL’s “The Illustrated Woman” almost exclusively, but it is a limited edition. I wanted to find a scent that would be generally available. Some of my current favorites are DSH’s “Au Lait”, BPAL’s “O”, and NA’s “Alexandria”, “Eternal Alexandria”, “Eternal Egypt”, and “Eternal Cairo”.

More to watch…

Okay, last post about television for awhile. At least I’ll try not to be so boring.

Today is the first full day of not paying to watch TV. I canceled the television portion of U-verse last night. (I still highly recommend U-verse. We had no problems in the year+ we had it. We simply were not watching enough to justify the costs. Other than Showtime, I was mostly watching local channels and not many “cable” networks.)

Yesterday I installed my Blu-ray drive and TV tuner in my new computer. I’m all set now. I recorded and watched my first CSI:Miami in HD last night. (We did not have HD before as I just couldn’t justify paying an extra $10 a month for it.)

Instead of ~$120/month, we’re now paying U-verse $65 (plus taxes, etc.) for a higher speed DSL connection.

Other things…

I’ve always loved Stephen King. Over the past week I’ve watched “Kingdom Hospital”. (I know it’s not his original story.) I’m not sure I loved it. The ending was pretty weak and I don’t like the Antubis/Anubis thing, but I almost crave more. I wish there was another season to try up those loose ends.

Oh, and I have new perfume oils… “Alexandria” and “Eternal Alexandria” from Nocturne Alchemy. They are both very lovely. “Eternal Alexandria” is warmer and more comforting of the two, and I think I’ll wear it tomorrow for my dental checkup. Maybe it will help with my nerves.

The Illustrated Woman

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has a limited edition  scent named The Illustrated Woman. It has become my “signature scent” as I’ve been wearing it almost every day since having been introduced to it. I think it is a very sexy scent. It starts off pine-y and slightly smoky and dries down to a soft musky, honeyed vanilla with some patchouli hiding underneath. It’s not foody gourmand, it just kind of mingles with my skin and oomphs it up a bit. It’s not too little scent, nor too much. It’s just right. I love it so much I ordered a second bottle.
