Sewing

I decided recently that I would like to start sewing. I had sewed a bit in the past, but I want to start again and learn to do more difficult projects. Basically I could hem and put together a simple skirt before, but I want to learn make more clothes.

I started today by sewing a small tote bag. I’m really pretty proud of how it turned it for being my first project. I made it from remnants that I bought at the fabric store. The outside it a heavy upholstery-type of fabric and the lining is a natural colored soft cotton.

(Ignore the corner on the bottom left. It was folded funny and I didn’t notice until after I had taken the picture. It matches the right corner.)

The project was from the Sew Everything Workshop book. It is the main book that I’m using to teach myself to sew. I really love the book and hope to be making many items with it.

About Lexi Loves…

I started this blog to help me remember that there are always good things in life. I’ve been feeling a bit down lately, but on October 12, 2008 I was struggling to name one good thing about life even though a million wonderful things surrounded me.

That is when I decided I needed to try to concentrate on the positive. My goal is to post about at least one thing I love every day. No rules for defining “love”. It may be deep love for friends and family or something as trivial as loving a new flavor of gum. One subject I post about often is food. I love cooking.

I might occasionally write about other things as well and not keep the "love" theme for every entry. I'm trying to get back into the habit again and hope to be posting daily-ish for 2010.

Note about site banner: The dogs in the banner are my Mr. Billy, Sam, and Ally. Sadly, Sam is no longer with us after battling liver disease (January 2009). We miss you, Pimp Dawg.
